Send your mares to Stonehurst for covering by our standing stallions, or we can A.I. either fresh or frozen semen from your choice of stallion worldwide
We accept your in-foal mares, taking care of all their needs in a nurturing environment ensuring a safe birth for both mare & foal
Through the summer foals are taught to walk in-hand & transport-load, to give your new foal the very best start in life
Our Argentine stallion ‘Euro Benceno’ stands at Stonehurst Stud for covering or collection throughout the season. Bred for polo he has superb temperament and conformation and is currently playing. He throws excellent progeny who can be seen at Stonehurst – up to 4 years; with more in Argentina up to the age of 6. Fresh or frozen semen from your chosen stallion can also be prepared by our vets for insemination.
From arrival at Stonehurst your in-foal mares will thrive in this peaceful haven, with nothing more to do than graze in the paddocks whilst our staff see that they have everything they need to keep them in the best of health prior to foaling. When the time comes to foal-down our staff will be on-hand to make sure your mare has a safe labour and her new foal is healthy and able to feed un-aided. We like to let the mares give birth with as little interference as possible, but are on hand immediately if assistance is required. Our equine vets are just minutes away if needed. To give your new foals the very best start in life we will handle and train them so that when you collect them at the end of the summer, they will be happy to walk onto your transport in-hand, with a confident attitude. They will also be happy to be groomed, stand for the farrier, and generally be loved - not spoilt! A Stonehurst Start is the best start for any foal.
We have over seven years’ experience with Embryo Transfer. Breeding in this way means your best playing mare can donate embryos to surrogates without taking more than a couple of weeks out of work, rather than years.
